PARKLAND, FLA — It's been six years since the tragic mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The shooting, one of the deadliest at the time, claimed 17 lives at the Broward County high school. Today, we remember the lives taken cowardly and so soon, and the many victims affected by the incident.
Across Broward County schools, the victims were remembered through "A Day of Service and Love", an early release day that has been designated by the school district as "a ‘service-learning’ day, for students, staff, and volunteers to come together to support each other through a variety of community service activities at schools across the county." On this day, we commit ourselves to keeping our schools safe and protecting our families. In honor of the 17 lives lost, The County Courier is publishing their names. May they forever rest in peace.
