Tamarac Commissioner Elvin Villalobos is out. On Tuesday night, early results showed Krystal Patterson far ahead of him. By the end of the night, Villalobos had been defeated by about 11%. He first took office in 2020, winning the District 2 seat. Through his term, he faced controversy after verbal altercations on the dais with Commissioner Marlon Bolton. Bolton was re-elected Tuesday against two challengers.
This was a pretty nasty race. During early voting, Villalobos says a former commissioner put him in a head lock at an early voting polling location. The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) is investigating the incident. He says Bolton was spending tons of money to oust him, money on mailers and ads. Patterson is the executive director of the West Perrine Community Redevelopment Agency. She also founded H.E.R.S. (Helping Executives Reach Solutions) Consulting.
