In District 1, former city-auditor turned Commissioner John Herbst won re-election against his challenger Tuesday night. Herbst, who won a special election to the seat in 2022 after being fired as the City Auditor, defeated businessman Norby Belz. Belz lost by roughly 2,000 votes in the Northeastern district.
In District 2, Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Steve Glassman was re-elected Tuesday night, defeating two challengers. Shortly after polls closed, Glassman had a solid lead over former Commissioner Charlotte Rodstrom and attorney Chad Van Horn. After securing a landslide victory in his three-way race, Glassman is ready for the future of the city. He faced opposition from opponents who challenged him on overdevelopment, saying that it has contributed to massive flooding and infrastructure issues. Voters did not agree.
