“Freedom of speech!” In today’s political climate, those three words are shouted from the rooftops. It is a building block for our country and our values. At The County, we believe that freedom of speech and the press belong not just to corporate media outlets and giant media conglomerates, but to all of us. The bloggers, the neighborhood families, and the community at large. The inclusion of voices and communities that are often excluded and ignored is paramount to ensuring a free society where everyone is informed. Your stories and your voices are important to us because they are our stories and our voices, too.

At The County, we are not all professional writers and reporters. We are bloggers, activists, organizers, community leaders, residents, and those with a passion to serve and inform our community. We believe strongly in empowerment and amplifying the voices of underserved communities from every corner of our community. After all, we believe that an engaged and informed population is the cornerstone of an empowered and free society. We’ll cover local politics and government, and we’ll even write about your missing cat.
