In two South Florida congressional districts, we endorse the incumbent Democrats. With a tossup presidential election, and national implications, it is imperative that Democrats hold the U.S. House come January 6th, 2025. Experience also matters. These two districts, District 23 and District 25 are expected to be safe seats for Democrats in this year's elections.

U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz

In Florida's 23rd Congressional District, which spans the coast of Broward County and takes in a portion of Palm Beach County, we endorse U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz. The incumbent, Moskowitz, first won this seat in 2022 after Rep. Ted Deutch left Congress to lead the American Jewish Committee. Moskowitz previously served as Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, a Broward County Commissioner, a Florida State Representative, and a Parkland City Commissioner. He is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, and that is reflected in his performance in congressional committee hearings. Moskowitz faces a challenge from Joe Kaufman, who has been running for Congress across Broward, including against U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, for years. Underfunded, but undeterred, Kaufman's long shot bid seeks to oust Moskowitz. He's focusing solely on immigration, inflation, and Israel. A member of the Republican Executive Committee, Kaufman seeks to be a Trump ally if elected. But, we don't need anymore pro-Trump, pro-Insurrection legislators in Washington, we need leaders.

In contrast, Moskowitz is focused gun violence prevention, defending democracy, lowering costs, and seniors. His priorities are in line with this district, and his star power will be an important asset to capturing the money local governments need to tackle flooding, climate change, and other local issues. Also, Democrats are going to need his voice if Donald trump wins a four-year term on Tuesday. Republicans are going to "take a blowtorch", they say, to the regulatory and administrative state. On the oversight committee, with Democrats like Rep. Moskowitz, at least they will be held to account. Voters should keep Moskowitz right where he is.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Across the way, in Florida's 25th Congressional District, Broward voters should keep U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for this South Broward district. Wasserman-Schultz has served in Congress since 2005, and is the ranking member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies. This endorsement is made largely on experience. Wasserman-Schultz has the experience needed to bring funds back to this district. Her views are in line with her constituents, and she knows the community she represents. Her challenger, Chris Eddy, not only lacks this experience, but is woefully out of line with the voters in District 25. Wasserman-Schultz lists reproductive freedom, gun safety, and democracy as her top priorities.

In Florida's 20th Congressional District, also based in Broward/Palm Beach, incumbent U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won re-election without opposition this spring. The County endorses Jared Moskowitz and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for Congress.
